ESTABLISHMENT

& MANAGEMENT

Planting Rates:

New Pastures …………………………………… 25-50 lbs./acre

Overseeding …………………………………….. 15-25  lbs./acre

Alpaca/Llama should be planted 1/8” – 1/4” deep. Frequent, light irrigation or rainfall is needed for best germination. Lime soil & apply starter fertilizer prior to seeding.

It is desirable to give Alpaca/Llama one full growing season to establish before being grazed. If you cannot wait a full year, wait 60 days after establishment and then graze only a few hours each day. Allow only the top half of the plant to be taken off by the animal; leave the other half for the plant and its root system.  Re-Seed & fertilize annually.
